It was established in 1993 under Article 74(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, 1977. In 1991 the then President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Ali Hassan Mwinyi appointed a commission under the Chairmanship of the late Chief Justice of Tanzania, the Honourable Francis L. Nyalali. T
he task of that Commission was to collect public opinion as to whether or not to continue with the one – party system. Following the recommendations by the Nyalali Commission, Article 3 of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, 1977 was amended to make Tanzania a multi – party state. The Political Parties Act, (No. 5 of 1992) was enacted to provide for the registration of Political Parties. The Elections Act (No.1 of 1985), the Local Authorities (Elections) Act, (No. 4 of 1979) and related legislations were also substantially amended to get rid of the one – party system and to put in place appropriate procedures for the conduct of Elections under the multi – party system. The National Electoral Commission is announcing qualified Tanzanians to apply for jobs a temporary contract for IT Cadres and Procurement and Supply Cadres for the improvement of the permanent Register of Voters.
1. IT CADRE: (200 posts – Dar es Salaam and 50 posts – Dodoma)
A: Applicant qualifications for IT
- He should have a certificate of form four and above, with experience working for the Commission itakura is an additional qualification;
- Have a degree certificate or diploma or diploma in the field of IT (ICT/IT), Electronics or Electrical issued by a college recognized by the Government or any other field that is compatible with IT issues or a computer course certificate or computer literate;
- Be skilled in using computers and smart phones (Smartphones) as well as doing minor maintenance of these devices;
- He should not be an employee in the Public Service;
- Must not have been convicted of a criminal offense within five years prior to applying for this job; and
- Be fair and honest.
B: Duties and Responsibilities:-
- Prepare upgrade equipment including connecting them with charging them;
- Installing various IT programs; order. Reviewing the existing IT equipment in the Commission’s offices;
- Provide technical advice to council executives during implementation of activities managed by the Commission;
- Assisting the Commission’s staff in providing training to council executives on the use of IT;
- Perform preventive maintenance on IT equipment; and vill. Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor of the relevant section.
2. PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CADRE: (150 Posts – Dar es Salaam)
A: Appoint the Applicant to the Supply and Purchase cadre
- He should have a certificate of form four and above. Having experience working in the Commission will be an additional qualification;
- May he be in good health; order. Be able to work in any environment; iv. Be able to work full time and overtime;
- Holder of a degree certificate or diploma or diploma in procurement and supply studies is an additional qualification; and vi. Be fair and honest.
B: Duties and Responsibilities:-
- Enter equipment information in the store ledger;
- Participating in the exercise of counting equipment (stock taking);
- Maintaining materials in the warehouses of the Commission;
- Ensuring the safety of equipment and warehouses;
- Loading and unloading equipment;
- Packing various equipment
- Organizing materials in warehouses;
- Cleaning the warehouses and;
- Other duties assigned to him by his supervisor.
